Default Magnaflow catback

I am considering a Magnaflow exhaust for my 98 Trans Am, and this is the best video I have found for what it sounds like inside the car driving around at cruising revs with stock manifolds and cats. I know this is an LT1...does it sound about the same in the cabin with an LS1? Because this one sounds awesome to me!

There is a BIG difference between the sound of a Magnaflow on a LT1 versus a LS1. The Mag on a LS1 is a lot quieter and doesn't have the same bass rumble. After a few weeks of driving it, it's starting to sound better, but still not as good as the sound of the LT1.

Thanks. I think I still might go for it, but it's a bummer it won't sound as good as that video.

I have the magnaflow catback on my stock '98 ls1 and I love it. It isn't that loud inside the car... but outside it sounds badass. Driving with the windows down and t-tops off is the best. Go for it bro!!

After several exhausts I finally settled on Magnaflow. I had a flowmaster (came with the car), GMMG, tsp td's, lm1, and finally the Magnaflow. I loved the gmmg but it was loud inside the car, the td's were way worse, the lm1 was ok but my car only runs 12's/13's and I don't want to look like an underachiever making all that noise and not running fast so I traded it for a Magnaflow and just installed my cme. It's by-far the smoothest my car has sounded since the LT's/ory went on.

Thanks guys...I'll probably be on stock manifolds and cats for a while, but it still sounds good to me. I'll be getting one soon...

That's my car on the dyno... Somewhat difficult to hear cuz of the dyno whining, but it gives you a good idea.

Magnaflow = Idle: deeper and slightly louder than stock, Part Throttle: you know it's not stock, but its not loud or raspy, Cruise: No drone, WOT: ***** to Wall!

I like the magnaflow, because you can go quiet to loud, but never loud to quiet. My friend had a Loud Mouth and it was 24/7 drone, rasp, and the loudest thing on the street. The magnaflow just lets people know you mean business at WOT and you won't get sound checked by any cops, since it's so low at idle/cruise. Trust me, if you're a mature adult with any respect for people with little kids, babies, or old people in the neighborhood, this is the exhaust for you. DO NOT be like every Mustang out there and do straight pipes and rev to 6k in 1st and 2nd gear!

I'm with you...I live in a development and drive my car to work once or twice a week, so when I fire it up in the morning I don't want to **** everyone off! But I do want something louder than the stock system on there now. Even at 3000 RPM the stock is pretty quiet...a nice rumble at idle/cruise and a roar and heavy throttle sounds perfect!

Kooks with catted Y, and Magnaflow. Very well mannered when you drive it normally. And more importantly, no drone. But on the dyno, I couldn't believe how good it sounded.

Ditto on loving the magnaflow as well pretty quiet inside but has a nice rumble and really sounds nice at full throttle and at idle with a nice lumpy cam, the quality of the system is excellent as well

I have a used magnaflow muffler/tips fs for $175 + shipping. Muffler is 3" inlet and 2.5" outlets. Has 3.5" single round tips. Make me an offer if interested. I need this thing outta my living room.
