it came with a flowmaster muffler, so its louder than stock exhaust i guess, it has a lil growl...man i had just bought a cheatr cam for it and the springs, i dont wanna break it down for da cam if its a 5.3, if it is a 5.3 ima go buy a 6.0 shortblock, put it on the stand and go from there

5.3s are fine honestly if my motor goes down and im in a huge pinch ill drop a 5.3 off in it no problems. honeslt id start on your cam swap such as pullin the water pump off and pullin the power steering pump off and when the power steering is off the front of the motor and just chillin in the engine bay that should give you access to some markings that would identify the block

sounds pretty standard. my 5.7l marking was at the back of the block on the passenger side. as i said before though when you start diggin into it for the cam swap when you start gettin stuff moved and you can spot some numbers is the only way i see you identifyin the block

im not sure but it looked like when you were on the passenger side of the car i thought i could see an iron block. i could be wrong but id say you have 5.3 in your car....

im thinkin its a 5.3 as well because i dont see someone takin the time to come up with 5.3 heads to stick on a 6.0 just to stick it in a car and put it back to stock. in my personal opinion i think the old motor went and someone stuck a 5.3 in there to drive it and went on about their business. but thats just me thinking out loud

Thats what im thinkin too, and yes i showed u da casting number on the heads on purpose an it is a cast iron block....but do yall thinks its worth cammin this motor because i just bought a cheatr cam and patriot gold extreme springs

if it runs good why the hell not cam it and go have fun with it. the power will be very close to an ls1 or 6.0 anyway i wouldnt worry. if you want more power down the road no big deal go get a 6.0 and stick it on a stand and mess with it while you still have the car to go play in

welcome to the world of mysterious engines in F-bodies. Found out I had a 5.3 in mine when I did my cam and converter install. Car put down good numbers though for the weather it dynoed in, and its way faster than when I first bought it so that is all that matters. I was running low 13's through an auto, with just L/Ts. stock air box everything, on street tires. I've street raced true ls1 cars and won, so idc what the cubes are. I just put a tsp torquer v2 in it, u/d pulley, PRC Dual springs, pushrods, Circle D 3800 stall, and it made 367/363. It was 90 degrees out and raining at time of dyno, so I am thinking a dryer, cooler day will bring much higher numbers. All in all if I get mid to low 12's I dont care. Iron block is better for boosting anyways and I do have some spray about to go in so we will see. If you do anything to modify that engine you will be happy, you will notice a difference on the street and at the track, and that is all that really matters. I am about to pull my head and measure my bore, you could do this to see if it is bored out.
