Designing An Exhaust System
So my local muffler shop and I are working out a new exhaust system to replace this el cheapo cat back the previous owner put on my 2002 Camaro SS.
The start is a set of Kook's Long Tube Headers (Part Number 650S-MC). We may do electronic cut-outs. He is going to replace the Y-Pipe with an H-Pipe. No EGR and No Cats. The big question for me is what muffler/resonator is the best? I'm wanting of course good flow and an aggressive sound, but this will be driven in town. The two that I've stumble upon that interest me (in large part because they are stainless steel) are the SLP Loudmouth I Resonators and the Flowmaster 80 series mufflers. Any input? Thanks!

I just helped a buddy de-mod his car and the exhaust will be posted up for sale tonite or tomorrow. ARH longtubes into 3" true duals w/ an x-pipe and cutouts before the axle. It goes into a y-pipe, over the axle into the SLP dual/dual system. Capped, its just louder than stock...uncapped, its hell unleashed. PM me if you want some pics

The two mufflers that you have listed are going to be night and day difference. The SLP resonator is going to be REALLLY loud while the flowmaster will be loud yet still tamed. Everyone likes different things but a lot of people who go with the SLP LM system (which has the LM resonator) end up switching to a more mild muffler.
And I've had the LM system on my car, but honestly the LM resonator is practically nothing, just a pipe that is a larger diameter

+1 on this.. flowmasters drone wayyy too much in an fbody. Sweet thunders don't. the only downfall is the inner baffles only are 2 3/4" so they will restrict a bit on a single muffler setup. great for a 2 1/2" TD setup though if you want ground clearance by putting the mufflers in against each other like shotgun tubes.

This is great input. And the night and day thing is my problem. I wouldn't mind loud but I don't want to be followed by police all day either when I drive it. It's more or less a toy. I'm looking to put a Lingenfelter cam in later so idk.... Having a hard time picturing the sound. My bro's t/a is hooker headers and y-pipe/cat-back
