Default loosing power when warm

i need some ideas. i have a 99 trans am. the problem im having is that just the other day i was having low idle problems under load and found a vaccum leak fixed it. the car runs fine when cold once warmed up it starts to cut out power and i cant bairly do 25 or 30. then all of a sudden the power comes back and will keep doing it. kinda stumped right now. was looking and started to smoking a little from the back of the block not bad but enough to see it. and got to looking at it and seen that the water doesnt seem to be circulating through the block.seems like theres air in the lines. thinking waterpump and thermostat might be going.have new plugs and wires about a yr ago new o2s,maf, fuel filter. was told that i could of poss seated a valve im not sure yet. but only does it when warm. any ideas or similar problems others might be having.
