is it common for rocker pedestals to fall apart? pulled the head today, and noticed that the end of my rocker pedestal is fallling apart.....you could pick at it with your fingernails and remove material.......obviously since its a 19 dollar part its worth replacing to prevent metal chips getting in there.....guess i should pull the other side valve cover to examine that one

You mean the rocker tip? The pedestal is what the rockers "sit" on. To answer your question no its not normal for them to wear out... If your talking about the bearings falling out then yes that's normal for ls1's but isn't good at all. Post a pic so we can see what your talking about

12552203........the long piece of aluminum that the rockers bolt too......ordered a new one........6 bucks through gm and 13 + shipping on summit......just thoguht it was odd because its not like that part gets stressed let alone the end of it which is making no contact with anything
