Default porting this 80mm BBK

Aloha gang,
I'm refining next friday because my injectors were to small. I picked up this 80mm throttle body. I have the stock ls6 intake, the stock. 85mm MAF, looks like i can port the hell outta tthis thing. Has a huge thick casting on the bottom. Its a fully CNC machined throttle body. Anyone have one, did you port it.

I'm sure you can get the same gains from just porting the stock TB. no use from going 80mm tb to a 78mm opening. Ya it's not much but sell this BBK and port your stocker. Same gains seeing how a 85mm and a ported 78mm are about the same

I though about doing that, but even tha ported stocker is a 75mm. The ls6 intake is 78mm and the MAF is 85mm. So jumping to a ported 80mm should show gains. Plus is have a big cam, headers, no cats straight exhaust and my redline is 7000rpms. I'm also retuning next Friday. Not sure how much to port it though. There is some thick *** walls on this thing.

I mic'ed the LS6 manifold and stock it's 75mm. I ported out that manifold neck to 80mm to take advantage of the larger BBK (that's 13% more cross sectional area than stock). The BBK TB is a nice piece and really doesn't need much porting.

Not doubting your skills at all. Just read alot of times that the ls1 intake was 75mm and the ls6 was 78mm. I think I'll measure mine when i go out to put the tbody on. If it indeed is a75mm. Then my gains will be less than I thought. Bummer. Yeah, I just finished with the tbody. All i did was knock that big ridge down on the bottom half of the tbody.
Damn, now I want to port the ls6 intake hole. But I only have 1 more dayoff til my retune date. If i change mmy date, I'll have to wait another month, all booked up.

No. Ther is no opening difference from the LS1 to the LS6. and u believe they are both 78mm. I have a stocker on my FAST78 and no lip. it's same as my ls6 with tb on it.
