Default My budget your advice $1000, 02 z28....

I wanna know what you guys would do. If u had an 02 z28 m6 115,000kms....ya KMS. SLP lid and magnaflow CB. You have $1000 to spend to make some more power. Its your daily driver.

What's the winning combo? I live in Toronto and know a good Camaro/Corvette shop to get it tuned. Plz consider parts are more expensive here. I had it dyno in at 292hp (in desparate need of a tune up, with magnaflow CB).

I want long tube headers but they would run $800+ shipped here, +install. (looked at texas speed's pacesetter LT w/ tsp catted y-pipe combo)

Whatever I do I want to tune it....i think?

Your advice will go a long way here....

i would for sure get LTs. They seem to be the biggest bang for your buck with a tune. Just a thought, if it doesnt snow near you, the painted pacesetters may be a decent option if your trying to save on price.

BBK lt/ory combo. They are a great buy, and the finish is holding up good on mine. LS6 intake and a tune if you can swing it.

edit: just noticed it's an 02 so you already have the ls6 intake. In that case maybe a ported TB, and a set of sfc's.

number 1, figure out how to install them yourself. Headers are pretty simple to install, even on these pain in the butt tightly packed engine bay cars. That should save you enough money for a proper tune. Im guessing that by the low power number this is an A4 car, so get a converter too. A used 4L60 converter can be had for very cheap in the classified section. You only need sfc's if you plan to race it hard.

Granted it needs a tune up. But for a stock F body he is not that far off.

if it's you DD than i'd strongly suggest you take that money and give her a proper FULL tune up; mods are worthless if the car doesn't run.

LT's, tune and be done with it for a little bit. Gears are good, as long as you don't plan on doing 6K+ clutch dumps on drag radials. At that milage i'd be checking bushings, mounts, and shocks just to be sure everything is in proper working condition.

The car will be tuned up for sure. Man, you guys love your long tubes huh? If i do long tubes i want to put cats on em. $200+ right there, or if i go ory-pipe then i need to pay $200 for an e-test every couple years. So! Your saying to wait....spend about $1500 and get long tubes, and a tune...?
How about a tune and no headers?

It's tough for $1000 to get much done. The tune will eat up half the money right there. I got a mayhem 2 cam kit for $1500. Lunati gold valvetrain/ Springs, lifters, high pressure oil pump, underdriven pulley and all gaskets. About $400 for a tune. But I installed it all myself.

Otherwise I would have to agree with the LT and tune

A tune with no other mods really isn't worth the price of the tune. You'll pick of a lil power, but not enough, imo, to justify the $400 for the tune.

If you plan on more mods down the road, do LT's and buy yourself HPT or EFI live. New they are a little more than a one time tune, so it pays for itself if you ever do an intake, cam, nitrous, etc etc. That was my first mod come to think of it...open headers and learning to tune these cars, good times

Ok, so be it....., tune-up, long tubes, and a tune. With a magnaflow cb and lid it should sound perfect. I'll post a before and after dyno this spring. Maybe drive down south the border for parts save on shipping and duties.

Thanks guys

Done. Full tune-up. Replaced y-pipe and failing cats with 2.5" y-pipe and magnaflow high flow cats. I then had it street tuned. I went back on the dyno and am now making 35+ hp and 39+ ft-lbs. Runs good, better mpg.
Thanks guys
