I bought and ran some for a long time. The reason why I bought them is because iridium is like the platinum plugs, really hard metal and lasts forever. And changing plugs on my car is a nightmare after putting on headers. So I wanted plugs that lasted a long time. The only down side I hear about platinum and iridium is because the metal is harder it doesn't burn as a hot so there is a supposed loss in power and the plugs that have the soft metals like champion gold give ya more power. but dont last as long. I think its splitting hairs, to me having a long lasting plug is worth a couple of micro-ponies.
