Default Ribbed side of belt running on water pump pulley?

Has anyone ever tried to run the belt with the ribbed side (rather than the flat side) on the water pump pulley?

My setup that i'm thinking of will work much better this way but i'm wondering how quick it'd wear out the belt, if at all?

Cheers!

it would prolly throw belt all the time, the flat pulley is made for flat part of the belt

What is this set up? If you changing the belt routing, why not get the right belt?

I have been doing that in sbc for about 12 years. The waterpump pulley was made for reverse rotation and had no "ribs" or whatever they are called. And i had standard rotation waterpump, so i tested it and it worked perfectly. Also got really simple and clean belt routing. The belt doesn't slip or wear at all, never thrown off a belt. I replaced the belt after maybe 10 years just in case and it still looked like new.

BUT if you just change the belt routing to the other side of pulley the pump will rotate in wrong way. I dont know if there are different rotation pumps for LS motors.
