Default air/fuel question

bought a car about 2 months ago. ls6 383. 11.5. cr has a fuel pressre guage and a a/f guage pod in the car. guy who sold it said the a/f meter didnt read right. said the wire loom commits be extended needed to move to the o2 sensor to the right side so wire would reach?? would that make a difference? he gave me new wires loom to fix the problem but im not really understanding please help. guage says im leaing out. max is 20.. stay btwn 15-17.6..somtimes hits 20. makes me nervous.

i had a hard time reading your question but anyway
What brand is the A/F gauge? most "cheap" A/F gauges aren't worth a damn.. especially the AEM ones

got a auto meter guage. the guy i bought it off of said he had to extend the wires from the guage wires to reach the o2 sensor. so theroetically it reads wrong bc theres extra wire extended to the 02. i have a newone he gave me. just gotta move the 02 sensor from the pasenger side to driver side so the wires will reach. but i still dont understand how it would read wrong. and how much it would be off on the guage reading
