any external differences on early/late lm7's?

any external differences on early/late lm7's? I've been reading that in 04, they started using LS2 style rods with floating wrist pins. Is there any way to tell if its an early or later lm7 other than pulling the pan? I haven't been able to find any information. Thanks for any help.
