Default Electric Water Pumps

I have been going over external mods to do to my car and wanted to see if anyone had any comments on electric water pumps:

Do they make or free up the advertised 10-20 hp I have seen claimed?
Will they void a factory warranty?
Has anyone installed one and run into any problems, specifically with LS1's?
Do you think they are worth the average 350 bucks with some running as much as $450 in cost?
What brands do you recommend based on past/present experience?

Thanks for your input!

I've seen dynos that show 6-8hp at the rear wheels, so there claims may be correct. But, I have seen a dyno or two with no improvements.

most dynos i seen show almost no gains,...

and if you get one make sure you figure out a way to monitor it...like a gauge or something.... because when it breaks you might not be able to tell and it could damage the engine
