the .409s are the same as the 10.4s. 0.409 inches = 10.4 millimeters
The good thing about these is that they come with heat resistant silicone cover. I'm not too familiar with the MSDs, but people around here seem to like them. Taylor also makes another wire that measures 10.4mm with even less resistance than the RACE WIRE; THUNDERVOLT is what I believe they are called, but I think that you can only get them in black.

I have them and love them. They look great and fit really darn well. No melting issues with the headers either. They are 10.4mm so are the same size as the Thundervolts. I believe that the 409's and the Tundervolts have the same resistance, about 50 ohms, but the Tundervolts are designed a little different to maintain that core resistence. The difference in only $10. I got the 409's because they came in red.

the 409's and the Tundervolts are very similar and both have about 50 ohms
of resistance- the only diff I know of between the two is the Thundervolt can take more heat.( I think ).
I switched from the MSD wires to the Thundervolt wires and am very happy!
The MSD wires seemed fine but when I had the car dyno'ed Mark was having trouble with the spark plug connection for readout purposes on the PC..
unrelated but 2 of the wires burned out quick being to close to the #2 & # 7 tubes..
I feel more confident with the Thundervolts after owning both
