Questions about heads and valve covers???
I have a gen III 5.3l, which shares the same head bolt pattern as the 99+ Ls1's, in my truck. I just bought heads from a 98 T/A and was told the bolt pattern will fit the block but the valve covers are completly diff. bolt patern. With this new light being shed on me is there a way to rlocate my coils with minimum problems and how can i do this myself!!???? Thanks for any info given!!!

I am currently in the same situation. I just bought some '98 Stage II heads and I own a '02. From what I am told, the valve covers have a perimeter bolt pattern vice a center line bolt pattern.
I believe the coil packs still bolt onto the valve covers. (someone please correct me if I am wrong). I am in the process of getting some new '98 valvecovers for my fix.
My question is, do I have to worry about any holes or fittings that my engine doesn't support??
If the coils do need to be moved, Thunder Racing sells a relocation kit.
