01 ls oil pan

01 ls oil pan
The drain plug threads are messed up. My mechanic put in a repair one the last time he changed my oil. Took to him to have it changed again and I guess he is afraid to unscrew because he wouldn't change it. Anyone know a good place to get an oil pan? I found one through Classic Industries but they are selling it with pickup and windage tray. Do I need to replace them also or can just the pan be replaced?

Ideally yes, you want to remove the pan because the old threads would need to be drilled out and you don't want to worry about metal shavings in the pan afterwards. Also, a helicoil is unnecessary, just have them retap the threads for a slightly larger plug. Any competent mechanic should be able to do the job.
