Default 4.8 block not drilled or tapped for 1 pan hole

So I went to throw the oil pan on my 4.8 yesterday and noticed that the block is missing an oil pan hole. It was never drilled or tapped, and my new aftermarket pan has a hole there. It seems like it should be there. Was it just a flaw? Is it supposed to be there?

Left side of the pics second pan hole down from the filter.

Thanks

The stock 4.8 pan doesn't have that hole either, yet the gasket on the pan does. Weird.

This is pretty common. My 1999 LS1 block was also missing it.

Carefully drill & tap it for the correct thread. Make sure you get it square.

Drilled and tapped it. Man the cast iron is easy to drill and tap.

I've ran into that before. I never bothered to drill and tap it.

Its weird how GM decided to not drill out one bolt.
