alternator bracket hole on truck block

alternator bracket hole on truck block
Im using an iron truck block with f body accessories. I know the drilling and tapping of the top mounting hole for the alternator bracket is pretty straight forward. I was wanting to be sure of the hole size. From what I've heard the final bit size should be 11/32nds" and the tap is a M10×1.5 is this correct? Also how deep should the hole/threads be into the casting?

Unless you have a blind hole tap you're gonna need to go in pretty far. It also depends on the length of your bolt which you can determine how much sticks through the bracket and know you need at least that much tapped. If you have good drill bits it's not difficult at all.

I'm surprised no one makes a kit to make this a more foolproof job. A bushing/drill bit guide that fits in the alternator bracket hole, a drill bit with a built in stop so you can't drill too deep, and the correct tap.
