Default Ceramic coating of my stainless steel headers?

My headers are off my car for my engine rebuild. Should I get them ceramic coated while they are off? I assume this helps with heat in the engine bay? Power difference?

I've often seen it discussed as reducing the heat but I doubt it'll do much. Wrapping the headers goes a long way in heat reduction.

Agree with Paul. I'd wrap them.

I wouldn't wrap them in Canada because the road salt will destroy the wrap and the header. For your climate I'd go with the ceramic coating, but it's your choice.

Most guys who would spend the money on ceramic coating or header wrap, are not driving their cars during the winter when there is salt on the road.

Other than that, it is a valid point.

I'll admit I didn't see Canada, but ado a valid point about not driving in the winter time.

Stainless has better heat retention properties than mild steel. That's why you find the latter available coated, but not the former. My stainless LT's don't put out excessive heat in the engine bay even on very hot days. So, IMO, you really don't need to do anything, but if you don't want to wrap them, if I were you, I wouldn't coat them.

I recall Maryland Speed offering free ceramic coating on Kooks headers in the past.

Just a little FYI direct from Hooker headers to be aware of.

"The use of header wraps can cause the header tubes to crack or rust due to excessive heat and moisture build-up. Hooker does not recommend the use of header wraps as this will void the warranty."

My point was that it is not unheard of, and that a vendor on the site offers it so they could be contacted for more info.
