24mm socket does connect nice and fit. One other question....

The bolt does loosen counter-clockwise correct? I tried to loosen it and it will not budge. Either I am turned it the wrong way or it was put on with a million pounds of torque

It is torqued tight. Yes, counter clockwise will loosen it (standing infront of car, facing engine). Once you break it loose you'll be able to unscrew it with your fingers. It will take some muscle to get it loose though.

When retightening it, buy a new bolt (from a dealer, $5) and follow this procedure:

Put old bolt in and torque it to 240 lb/ft.
Take old bolt out and put new bolt in.
Torque new bolt to 37 lb/ft.
Then, rotate new bolt an additional 140° clockwise. (mark the bolt at the 12 o'clock position so you have a reference.)

When I did mine, I could not torque the old bolt to 240 lb/ft, and I could not get the new one an extra 140°. I could only get the old bolt to about 190 lb/ft, and I could only rotate the new bolt to about 100-110°. I have had no problems. You'll probably think the old bolt will snap off with that much torque, but the Helms manual says that is the way to do it....!

Hope this helps,
Mike

That is what I thought. A 140# person with a 18" ratchet I guess is not enough. Time to hit Lowe's and buy a nice piece of 4' steel tube to make an extension
