I have already bought the tick performance sns stage 2 cam 227/235. I may have access to some free 5.3 truck heads. My question is would these be a good head to have p&p or should I just save and get some 243's and have them p&p? I'm on a pretty tight budget so I'm leaning toward the 5.3's but if the 243's would be better I am willing to save a little longer because I want to do it right the first time..

I run p&p 5.3 heads and I think they perform really good for the price. All things being totally equal the ported 243's might get you 10 more hp maybe

Contact Martin. I was looking at that or the stage 3 with TSP 5.3 heads on my LQ4. We went with a custom cam that is somewhat in-between the two.

243's will ultimately make more power. The core box on a 243 is a much better starting point than a 5.3 head. Any good head porter will easily be able to produce more power with a 243 head.
