Default LS3 air inlet

Is there any reason an LS3 can not draw air from a custom made intake box mounted to the throttle body? I have a clearance issue on a 37 ford install and would like to hear any similar experiences. Have about 2.5 inches to work with. The box would attach to throttle body and air would be routed into it from the aft side above and behind the throttle body. MAF would be in a tube leading into the box.

Thanks,

I don't see why as long as the MAFS is in a straight section of pipe. So what do you plan on using, a cobra head 90* elbow ?

Had not seen those. Looks like a good answer to my problem.

Thanks very much!
