Default Help: Kooks headers and catted y pipe

I have my kooks bolted up but the y pipe won't fit on the headers. The cats connect directly to the headers but they are almost the same size. I thought the cats would slide over the header like the rest of the y pipe but they won't, should they? Suggestions

You could rent a pipe expander from AutoZone or take the cats to an exhaust shop and have them open up the inlet ever so slightly...

My Y-pipe was a Bitch. The cats went on fine the problem was getting the driver side and passenger side of the y-pipe together. It took 3 guys and pry bars, Oh yeah and a big hammer. I also had to cut the I-pipe as it was too long to connect to the Cat-back.

Go to an exhaust shop and have them expand it. Good luck.

Yes, go to an exhaust shop and have them expand the inlets. You think they would check stuff like this before they are sent out.

The fit on mine was awesome. Well worth the $1,200.

I've dealt with that issue a couple of times now. Lesson is pre fit everything before you bolt it to the car.

Well I ended up just pounding it out slightly with a tiny hammer. It looks like they were flattened ever so slightly during shipping. I talked to someone at kooks and they said to pound it out or as a last resort take it to a muffler shop and use a pipe expander. Besides that though everything fit great. The drivers side slid right in with only removal of the drain plug and oil filter, no problems on the passenger either. Other than the cats, the y pipe fit great also, I didn't even have to cut the intermediate pipe. I just unbolted the catback slid it back to get the y pipe to slid inside it. Overall I am very happy except I may have a small leak, see my other post.
