GenIII Alternator Swap
Hi guys,
I have a 2005 Pontiac GTO that I've had 8 years now. About 3 years ago I ditched the LS2 for an Gen III Iron block 6.0 (2000 LQ4 from Chevy Express Van). Throughout the 8 years I've owned the car I've been plagued with charging issues, ultimately replacing 6 batteries and 2 alternators.
Curiously enough, GM decided to use Mitsubishi alternators for GTOs, model #CA11097. Ive decided to ditch the PWM controlled voltage regulation to go with a self exciting unit. From what I've been able to gather, I should be able to fit a CS130D or an AD244 alternator to my engine, correct?
Ideally, I'd like to find a Self Exciting AD244 that will physically fit in the factory location with the factory bracket. Does anyone have any applicable experience that can provide some insight?
Thanks in advance
