Default CHRS1313 modified questions

I have seen a whole bunch on the chr1313 cold air scoop...was looking at snagging the AC version for my 02, however, I got to thinking about how I'd rather have the airflow of the regular one without removing the AC

So my question is this...has anyone either through making their own version, or taking CHR1313 non/ac version taken it, cut back the radiator support by 1.5-2" or so and expanded the entire unit to be an even bigger scoop?

So do you follow what I am saying? rather than have the 2.5" wide inlet at your air filter or whatever it is, cut the metal back on the radiator shroud so you can expand the opening to lets say 3.5-4" total now, and build the sheetmetal box down to the air dam scoop/nose like it is with the regular design?

I know I read chrs1313 didn't do this because most folks didn't want to hack their car...but has anyone done this outside of the kit then?

The question is- I know turbo guys have cut that support...how much can you cut back without jeopardizing integrity of the vehicle?

Then second to that- at what point are you too big to see any returns? Like let's say you open the lid area up to 5" wide by the length of the air box? ...is that going to net you more airflow than what Chrs has already opened with his air box?

Like I wonder if too much of an opening runs into a problem?

just realize that the factory TB opening is only 7.5sq in. A 102mm is 12.5sq in. how big of an inlet do you really need?

I don't think it has much to do with the TB inlet- because the CHRS1313 intake is shown to make power and is already quite a bit bigger than 7.5 sq inches lol
