Default Engine harness clip. What does it do?

I got a clip that's melted on the passenger side on the injector harness. I was wondering if I could just solder it together and get rid of the clip

It's for the cam sensor I believe. I've been debating on soldering mine up and tuck it inside the loom simply for looks purposes. I assume it's set up this way for some diagnostics or something I truly do not know. But yes essentially you can just solder it all back together.

Yes, you can eliminate the plug and solder it all together. But, why did it short out like that?
