Default LS6 intake from the factory question

Had a question before I start my LS6 intake swap on my 2000 TA. Does anyone know what the factory did with the coolant lines underneath? I am aware you cant use the LS1 coolant lines underneath the LS6 intake, I know also about the front coolant line and coolant plugs, is this what the factory did? I read on LS1 howto, there was someone who took 2 LS6 front coolant lines, I also heard of using 2 LS6 front coolant lines and running a hose from the rear of the intake to the front and using a "T" connector, hook it up making it somewhat like the factory LS1. Heard different stories on this as far as trouble blocking off the rear and such, just looking for info before I start this project.
Thanks

You can use the factory lines with an ls6 intake. You can either slightly flatten them to clear, or chip the raised parts off the intake that are in the way.

I personally flattened my coolant lines a little bit. Worked well, I have a good friend that chipped the things off the bottom of the intake and that worked also.

^ Yep. Took a chisel and a hammer and whacked them off where needed. Easy.

Just be careful when you torque down your intake after you remove the bracing off the bottom of the intake. Those ribs add rigidity and GM didn't put them there on accident. If I were going the cheap route, I would flatten the ls1 lines. That way you will retain cooling equality. I always just buy the newer style cross over/plug set up.
