Take a hack saw and cut the "Y" about a foot past where they join.

Do your motor mount thing.

Reinstall header and "Y".

Then go down to your local muffler shop and for $30 have a 3 bolt flange welded on

Where are you in nor cal?

I ran into the same thing during my header install. I pulled out the sawzall and cut the Y and I pipe apart. Then, when I was done with the headers, I went up to the local auto supply and got an exhast coupler that was 3" on both sides and a couple u-bolts. It was only a temporary fix until I got the duals done. But any muffler shop can weld them together or flange them for under $50.
