Default Need help with catalytic converter on GMC Yukon

I have had my O2 sensors changed a few times in the past 2 years, and recently got the P0420 code on my SES. I am thinking that this is a bad catalytic converter rather than the O2 sensors this time - but how do I know. Firestone quoted me $1,000 to fix it, but I know I can pick one up at Napa for $400 (non OEM obvoiusly). I am assuming the installation isn't too hard? Should I buy new O2 sensors first and try that, or just assume I do have a bad catalytic converter and spend the $400 to replace it. Probably unrelated, but the light came on about 2 hours after they changed my oil. My Yukon is a '97 with 140,000 miles. Thanks.

you can pick up car sound cats for ~100 bucks a pair for ebay. no way i'd pay 400 and **** 1k. buy the cats and have and exhaust shop weld them in. or if you have access to a welder do it yourself.
