Default Cold start-up noise

Got a noise that sounds like a bearing has sand in it. Weird thing is, it only makes the noise at start-up when cold. After about 1 minute, it stops making the noise. Also, it never makes it when starting when warmed up.

I took off the power steering/alternator belt and it did not make the noise. WTF?

I took the fuses out so it wasn't operating. It must be something that is operated by the belt.

A friend listened to it and thinks it might be a bearing. Possible the one on the belt tensioner. The car is loud and we thought is was all exhaust but it could be from the bearing.

Yeah, the tensioner pulleys are notorious for noise on these cars.
