Default Best Cat Back Exhaust for Mac mids with Cats.

For Mac mid-length headers with Mac catalytic convertors which is the best choice for Cat back of the ones listed?

Out of all those I would get the GMMG.

First of all, I hope that you aren't using the MAC cats...even your stock cats flow way better. I had the MACs with my factory cats welded in going to an SLP Loudmouth. Sounded great, but I did have some drone around 2000 RPM.

Yes. I had a clogged passenger cat with the stock and wanted to keep the cats on instead of ORY. I will probably go car sounds cats in a couple of years but until then it is Mac cats.

It depends on what you're looking for - if you want to make alot of noise, go with the LM. IMO the GMMG sounds sweet but isn't worth the $$. The Magnaflow is probably nice, but still more expensive than the Hooker.

My vote's for the Hooker catback - you can't beat the performance and sound for the money.

I have the TSP Rumbler, and plan on using Macs with a catted Y. I already have the headers, just looking for the Y. So I vote for the Loudmouth.

I have heard to try the TSP Rumbler as well. I just do not hear enough about it.

I am thinking the magnaflow would be best down the road if I decide ORY and it is stainless steel. However, no one else seems to like the magnaflow.

I like it. A bit of drone about 1700-1900 rpm's, Just cruising around it is not bad. and unless I'm listening for the wrong thing it has no rasp.

If those were my only choices, I'd pick the GMMG. #2 would be Magnaflow. This is of course assuming that price is not your top concern......

Magnaflow is a nice system, just that if price is no concern I'd probably pick the GMMG.

If the GMMG is more than you are really willing to spend, then out of that list definitaly get the Magnaflow system. However, personally I have a couple other systems I like better than the options that you're looking at, but I'll stick to choosing between your finalists

I think the distinctive sound of my GMMG is worth the money.

Hooker, not a loud annoying raspy sound like other exhausts produce, instead a calm nice tone at cruise, and a really agressive roar at wot.

Please add more. I do not have the experience with exhausts and even though I have been around for a couple of years I only know sounds from LS1sounds and the posts that i read here which seem to center on GMMG or loud mouth (with stock) or magnaflow. So, any additional insight is cool.

BTW I plan on buying my exhaust tomorrow or early next week since the exhaust I have on now should be replaced and costs is a concern. $400 is comfortable.

I have a Loud Mouth with my LTs and no cats on the Camaro. Holy Crapa is it loud! It basically sounds mean upto about 2000 rpms and then it turns into some crazy turbo diesel dually! Lots of RASP! I don't recommend it with LTs. I have Magnaflow on my Formula. It is perfect! It is quiet when it needs to be and loud the rest of the time! I say go with Magnaflow.

I have a great deal of LS1 exhaust experiance, I've owned/installed/heard many setups on mine and other locals' LS1 cars in the last bunch of years. But if your looking to stay right around ~$400 then the Magnaflow would be a great option. I would also say to consider the Random Tech system, it will be a bit cheaper and power/sound will be similar (RT flows extremely well). Some might like the look of the Magnaflow tips better, but that is totally subjective.

I also really like the SLP 2OTL system, but it will not look correct on your T/A rear bumper. I had it on my Trans Am for a while but I got sick of seeing the empty right bumper tailpipe cutout.

My favorite system is currently the Bassani (Street Competition version), excellent all-around system (power/sound/appearance/all stainless). This will run you $650 though.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I decided to do the Magnaflow because of cost and it is stainless steel and the sound is great with cats or ORY.

BTW, I found the best price for Magnaflow with Tbyrne and the best price for Loudmouth with Stealth and the GMMG may be doing a GP still. The others I do not know.
