Default Difference in Catback and Muffler

Just curious of the cat-back versus just adding a muffler.

Is it the whole cat-back that adds power or just the actual muffer versus stock. I guess what i'm trying to ask is it worth the extra money for cat-back or should i just by the muffler and go have it welded up

Well most catbacks use 3" tubing from the y-pipe back, and the stock pipe is 2.75".

Most of the power gains come from a muffler although there is some more to be made with the whole catback.

Cat-backs also come with mandrel bent pipes.
