Default Tach install

Ok i did a search but they arent very specific. I read that i need to clip the brown and ornage wires in the back of the tach and after that its all good. Am i correct. I don't need the module after all? Just hook up the power, ground, tach wire and the lights and thats that?

Don't need any sort of module or anything. You have to set it on the "4 cyl" mode in order for it to read correctly. You can find a power wire very close to the tach wire. I believe it was pink on my '01. I prefer to hook up the ground to the same place the battery is, just so I know it's getting a real good ground. I'm afraid I can't tell you where you can find a light wire, I didn't feel like wasting the time looking for one. I just hooked up the light wire to be on all the time. You can't see the light during the day time and it's already lit up so it works fine at night.
