Replace LM resonator with a Borla XR-1. That should help. Part number 40085

I replaced my LM resonator with a Dynomax 18" bullet muffler (part# 24219). I picked mine up at the local NAPA for $50.00.

Dynomax 18" here too......I am going louder soon, but it tones it down, and makes it mellow at low rpm......great sound $50. :yup:

High flow cats would be more expensive and more work to install, but would help an awful lot. Try a new muffler first though, and if it's not enough go with cats. (you will probably still have rasp, even with a new bullet muffler but it should be much more liveable)

A good friend of mine has the spirl flow (which is the Moroso muffler) on his mac/ORY pipe car, sounds pretty good...If you dont want any rasp, go with the Borla XR-1

I know what you mean. I have mac mid's, mac ory, with lm and it was fine till i put the cam in. I changed it out with the new lm II and it is much better. The original lm has no resonator, but the lm II does! The lm II is a bullet type muffler!

Actually, what the original loudmouth had was a resonator. What the LMII has is simply a bullet muffler.

Yeah, the resonator canceled out some frequencies in the tone, and that was a main cause of drone. (That rymes ) Did very little to muffle the sound, just shaped it slightly. The bullet muffler muffles and cancels out sound frequencies too. Making it a more refined tone compaired to a resonator.

If you don't want rasp, get rid of the MAC ORY!!
