Default FRA -- seal the front of the box?

Just wondering if the FRA (free ram air) modification actually works better if the normal air intake slot in the front of the filter box assembly is sealed with tape or foam? Does everyone do this?

Yes, that's what I did. The only air that gets to my box is from below the car.

I tested this at the track and ran almost identical numbers with and without.

i have mine blocked off with the seal that comes with the FAST Toys ram air kit and my car runs better with the hole blocked off. i have no definitive #'s. I would think the same principle holds, more incoming air is vacuumized if the front of the airbox is blocked off.
