160 degree Thermostat
Question,
At what temp is everyone who installs a 160 degree thermo actually running at? I installed one on mine (Hypertech) and it dropped my 200 SS (w/auto trans) to about 190 or so(with the Hyper.program). Does that sound right? ~ BowmansRedAlert

Kinda hate to buy one now. I just did hte spacer mod on mine so it would be 168, but didn't notice much of a change. Still running about 190. Was fixing to but hypertech 160, now I may not.

I was thinking that it was going to be a lot more of a temperture drop than what I have seen on mine. Not too teribly impressed with the mod for the money and time I spent on it. ~ BowmansRedAlert

I don't have an Autotap scanner, but judging from when my fans come on (185), I'd say mine runs around 175-180 around town unless in heavy traffic. I hate having a dummy guage...

just installed mine yesterday, 160* with hpp3, i would have to say it runs noticably cooler than before. im prolly going to add water wetter to try and drop it even more, i picked mine up for $40 new, so i dont really think it was a bad deal for dropping temp only slightly.
you can always try some water wetter, that stuff works great, i used it before with my stock tstat when i had autotap and it dropped average 10* both ways so maybe this is the answer you are looking for.

I run about 180* according to my autometer gauge with the 160 stat when the car is moving. On the interstate at 70-75 its around 170-175. When its below ~50 out, on the highway it will run at ~165 which is a bit too cold for my liking, but its rare these days when the car is anywhere but the garage in cold weather.

anything other than a 98 model the inside gauge is going to read about the same 99 to 2000 the gauge get to a sertain temp and the gauge goes to around 195 to 200.The 98 model is the only accurate one the 99-02 hook up a scan tool and check the temp is the only accurate way on the newer years. I have a hhp 160 and it reads 195 on the gauge but on my scanner it reads 178- 185 maybe this will help a few!
