Default god damn cylinder #8

so, a week after finding out my cylinder #8 wire got loose, and i was running 7 cylinders - today i get a misfire again
i look - and as far as i can tell, it again is either loose or not there at all.

wtf?

according to the mechanic that plugged it in last time it fell out, he did hear 2 clicks when it went in

prolly could be lying..
but.
is it possible that the damn wire is bad, or something? i do see a pattern developing.. i go wot - wire # 8 falls off.

what gives??

yeah, i'd love to
however it is nearly impossible to get to cyl #8 from the top, without removing a lot of crap

and i happen to be broke as a joke at the moment, don't have the money even for most basic tools

Use long handled screw driver (flathead) and put it on the end of the wire then pry it back on very carefully, cause if you dont youll break the spark plug. Get a set of ramps and go in from underneath.

It's a ***** to reach, but something you should do yourself. All we are talking about here is securing a spark plug wire and a frew screws.

If you can removing some coil packs and wires from cylinders 2-4-6 will help. When i changed the plug back there I removed the 5 and 6 coil packs and wires so i could reach my arm down there along the block. (my 98 has coils directly on valvecover though)

If you go in from the bottom it is a peice of cake....going in from the top is a pain you have to unbolt coil pacs....just reach up and put it on..nothing to it..do it yourself and it will be free..

well, the mechanic i go to will do it for free as well, heh. he didnt charge anything last time

i'm just curious *why* this keeps happening.. even though it was supposedly put on properly 2 times before

_could_ it be a bad wire, that just doesn't grip the plug as tight as it should?

Well, try this. Run it up on ramps. Pull any wire from the drivers side that you are satisfied is in good shape, at lease connection wise. Crawl under the car, take off #8, swap the wires. Do a good cruise and check it out.
If you're still not happy, a good set of wires can be had for around $60.

Mine were not different lengths. I use the Talyor 10.4mm wires.

Yes. They are all equal length. This is one of the beauties of coil packs vs. traditional distributors.

Holy crap. Please tell me that you're not gonna go to a mechanic to have him put a plug wire on for you?? Just pull the coil packs and reach in there and switch that wire with one from the front. There's only a couple of bolts to take off. 10 mm if I remember correctly. It'll at least keep a mechanic from making fun of you when you leave.
