Default Exhaust Leaks

When I put my car on the lift and look at the exhaust system, at each place where the pipes come together there is black residue. Is this normal or should I do something about it, and if so, what? Thanks

A little bit of residue is fine...would'nt worry about it unless it's audible and messing up your O2 sensor readings.

Default residue

Yeah I noticed that too, kinda where the pipe has the lengthwise cuts in it to fit snug over other pipe there is a tiny bit of black residue from exhaust. I dont think is signifigant enough to cause any problems tho.

If you are using clamps to hold together the pipes together then chances are they will leak. As long as the leaks are very minor, I would not worry about it. But if you don't want anymore leaks, weld the joints together.
