Default Opps. I f/u crank bolt install. Think its ok?

Ok, here's what I did. I'm doing a cam install. Putting it back together. Installing the new crank bolt. Not 5 mins earlier I read the manf. install specs. Dah!! So any way I proceed to install the new bolt to 240ftlbs. Doh! So I had a brain fart. Ment to do the 37ftlbs and 140deg method.

So you think it will stay put or should I get a new bolt? Lets add to this that I did pin the crank and I used locktite on the new crank bolt. Also after I realized what I did I put the breaker bar on and tightened it another 10degs. Thats as far as it would go...All I know is its on there damn tight..

Think it will be fine??? I'm thinking it will be ok.. I had heard the when you pin the crank the torque to yield method wasn't as important anymore...

i would imagine if you torqued it to 240ft/lbs it will probably stay put rofl, unless you meant 24?

I'd be careful, the bolt is designed to stretch and thats why u go 1/3 at 37ft lbs...

I just tightened the bolt till it wouldn't tighten anymore with my 18" breaker bar. It's on there good enough. No one can ever tighten it to spec so why not just tighten it as much as you can. That's what you would be doing anyways.

Yeah, I I'm just going to leave it. Its on there alot tighter than it came off for sure. Plus with the crank pinned I dont have to worry about the balancer spinning off...
