Default Removing the Heater Core

I have an LS1 and recently removed the heater core. I was just wondering if I could simply block off the water pump holes that went to the core or do I have to connect the two together?

You have to connect them together with a u Shaped piece of hose. It gets cold in the winter

So what happens if you just plug them both up?

Dont plug them as previous poster stated, loop them together, your car wont care but you will not have heat this winter.
