waterpump problems on 01 z28, need help!!!
i have a 2001 z28 m6 w/ 82,000 miles and just today I believe my water pump started leaking.
Since there is antifreeze dripping from the area of the "seap hole"
I have a couple of questions...
is it common for waterpump to go out on these cars??
how hard is it to replace the waterpump? I replaced one on a 94 z28 that I owned, but how is it on the ls1 engines?
Also do I need any special tools or should standard at home garage tools should work.
If anyone and I am sure someone has changed these water pumps, please list some tips and advice.
Thank you, your comments are greatly appreciated.

I understood that the pumps would go about 75K miles or so. I replaced the pump on my daughters '98 Z28 fairly easily, at that time.. If you want to go to cooler stat, it's a good time to do it also.

I just recently replaced the water pump on my T/A after it seized up. Just follow this guide and ignore the parts in reference to the electric water pump.

It took me and my brother maybe an hour total to take the old pump off and get the new one on, which includes time to drive up to advance and get the new pump.
Very easy job. Make sure you have a bucket or two to catch the coolant, there will be a lot. You will also want to have probably 1 jug of dexcool or 2 jugs of the 50/50 premix. Make sure you buy GM dexcool coolant (the orange or pink stuff) because green coolant will congeal with the dexcool and turn into jello.

mine went about a week after getting my car out of winter storage, only 35k miles on it. Very easy job.
I bought a new pump from NAPA for around $164 it came with GM gaskets.
Took about an hour start to finish.
