Question removeing cat question

im sure this has been covered here before but i have a 85firebird 4bbl 5.0 v8 and i just got flowmaster 80 series on it and i love the sound i just wish it was about 10x louder. its really quite i don't want to spend any money really on it because im getting a trans am in a few months but i want it to be louder that it is i have a friend that can weld it up for me. what i want to do is put a straight pipe in replace of the cat because i want the flowmaster sound still, i was thinking of doing flanges but dun want to spend money cuz im not keeping car much longer is it even worth removeing and will it even make it that much louder. thanks guys

I wouldnt remove it if you live in a state that does inspections for emissions it will just probably make the buyer looking at your car not interested.
