Default stalling

have a VaraRam intake kit on my 04 GMC which retains the stock intake tube from the MAF to the intake on the engine. I cut off the the bulge that hung down from the bottom of the stock intake that I though was an air silencer, but someone else said was a boost tube? Could that be causing my truck to stall and idle really low? I have had the VaraRam kit on for a year, so its not that.

Thanks
