X and H-piping
Has anyone seen performance differences between the two? (I have read an H-pipe robs some HP) Also, is one easier to manuver/install under the car than the other? I cant find too much info. about H-pipes and see that the vast majority of true dual users choose the X-pipe route, wonder why?

X-Pipe
Better Flow=Better Performance - More Top End Power
Exotic Sounding
Could Have Possible Clearance Issues
H-Pipe
A Little Deeper Sound
Can Be Routed For Better Clearance
Lowend Power

H-pipe is more for sound. The X-pipe is used more than often because it causes the "scavenging" effect on our odd-firing V8's. The H-pipe gives a little more low end torque, but the X-pipe is the prime choice for an LS1.

I know I'll probably get flamed for comparing LS1s with 4.9s(Sorry 5.0 guys... it's the truth), but I saw a thing on the intrenet that showed dyno results of a Ford 302 run through an h-pipe actually outperforming an X-pipe configuration by about 5 hp, all across the board.

I've looked for dyno sheets before to no avail. There might be some out there now, though, give it a shot. But definitely do some research on it, other than just do what everybody else on the planet's doing. If you find conclusive information on the H vs. X issue, feel free to post it up.

I went with an H pipe because I had to have extra clearance for the th350 pan, torque arm, and driveshaft loop. The H fit like a glove, where there was no way I was going to get an X to fit in there. Not to mention I got my H pipe for 30 bucks from Jeg's
As for performance, I doubt there's much difference. Dyno queens might care about the extra hp or two, but I would choose the clearance over that any day
