Best cheap set of long tubes for LS1?
I tried searching on this but didn't really know what to search for. I'm wondering, what is the best set of cheap long tube headers for the LS1? I've noticed the pacesetters and the hooker long tube headers but are there any more? Between those headers which would you prefer?
I'm looking for a cheap set (around $300 would be nice, mild steel of course) for I'm going to be modifying them to fit a project I'm looking into. The plans would be to maybe run a cam to get close to the 400 RWHP mark and maybe a 100 shot of juice on top of that in a M6 set up with something like 4.10 gears in the back. At first the car would be stock though.
Thanks!
Ted

How's $375 sound? Can you swing the extra $75 over your planned price for them?
If so, most definitely get the Pacesetter coated longtube headers. The majority of people with longtubes here run them (I've put them on both of my 4th gen Z28s). They are a great design and the coating is a metallic one that keeps in heat and helps protect the headers from rust (at least for a bit. Stainless steel headers are the only ones that won't rust). Go to our sponsor, www.ls1speed.com, and purchase there. They have free shipping on orders over $100. Spend the $375 on them and start your project off right! I'm sure many others will follow me in this suggestion.

But it's most DEFINITELY worth the extra $75 for the coated ones.

Now to look into a place that can coat the headers inside and out.
Thanks for the info guys! I'm going to check out the classifieds on here and see if I can get a used set now!
