Cutout
Ok, I got a 98 formula with MAC mid tube headers, MAC Y-pipe with no cats, and Flowmasters 80 series crossflow exhaust. So i am getting a 2.5 cutout made by jegs. What i wanna know is should I buy one or two cutouts, Where should i place it or them, and will it sound good?

Unless you are wanting them for sound control the best place for them is on the shelf.
True enough the Flowmaster muffler doesn't flow the best so by-passing the muffler will give you some power, but not much unless you are running a decent h/c setup or FI.
The biggest thing with exhaust tuning is scavenging, the mid pipe does this so two cutouts would by-pass a postive part of the setup and likely yield less power.
But the most important part of scavenging occurs at the headers and due to the primary lengths of the mac mids they don't scavenge until at high rpm's.
For a good exhaust setup you want long tube headers (for scavenging) a good mid pipe (good high flow cats are fine for near 500rwhp with next to no loss in HP). If you stick with a Y setup a good merge collector and a good flowing muffler.
Under such a setup a the mufflers would flow as well or better than the actual tubing so you wouldn't see any gain with a cutout.
Duals would be the other option but the headers and mid pipe would still be as important.
