Default Manifold vs. Header

I installed some Mac's mid tube headers on my car and it seems to have gotten quieter then when I had the stock exhaust manifolds on there. Dont get me wrong, I love the increased acceleration from it. Any thoughts on this? Im running mac mids with aftermarket Y-pipe, 2 cutouts, no cats and a Blowmaster muffler.

a header is a manifold.

If the rest of the setup is the same then maybe the headers/mid pipe are having some form of silencing affect along the lines of a deflection muffler. This is exactly how the SLP LM resonator works and also chambered mufflers like the GMMG. Either that or it has just changed the tone and it isn't really quieter just different.

It may also be louder outside/behind the car than you realize being in the car.
