Default Cleaning MAF

I was polishing my MAF ends and I noticed that the three bars in the middle have dirt or something on them. What is a safe way to clean it? Or should I just leave it alone?

I think if you do a search you'll find several ways do clean the wires, one thing you don't want to do is touch the wires with your fingers. That being said I'll say "Blue Shower" works great, you should be able to find this at Raido Shack.

Was up Larry...you can try a few ways to clean those wires....first you can try getting a Q-tip and soaking it in some alcohol and carefully run them softly across the wires...trust me it works because I have done it and once you wipe the Q-tip along the dirty part....You'll see al the dirt or oily buildup......Or most people also use carburator cleaner....just hold it a couple of inches away and spray it and let it dry....you can also wipe the carburator residue with q-tips.........It will work...just keep in mind that those wires are very sensitive....but if you have a steady hand you will do fine......take your time.......Laters

I had to do this on my 89 Grand Prix a few weeks back. Yes, beleive it or not, it has a MAF just like ours. I used this electronics cleaner that I had gotten at Radio Shack for my Stereo receiver (I was having problems with that awhile back). Anyway, it has a little brush on the end of it's nozzle. I sprayed the resistors and wires and gently with the brush cleaned them. From there I let a fan gently blow on it to help accelerate the evaporation of the solution, put it all back together, put it in the car, and it drove like a dream.
