Default question about electric water pumps

IF I were to get an electric water pump for my 02 z28, would I need electric fan or fans? Mesiere advertises that their elec. water pumps do not require you to change your serpentine belt. If its an elec. pump, its not belt driven(right?), so what do they mean? How does this pump work? Does it come with its own battery operated motor? I would really like someone to explain to me how an electric pump operates as opposed to a belt driven, and what are its benefits and/or down falls. Thanks

it has an electric motor in it. You wire it up and the electric motor pumps the water. as opposed to a pulley turning the internal mechanics of the pump. I believe you can use the same size belt because there is a pulley on it to put the belt but it offers no resistance to the belt because it turns freely. it frees up some hp because it just one less accessory for the belt to power.
