Default WTF at the TSP Y pipe

It looks like the 3" Y pipe merges into a 2 3/4" collectore where it will meet my LM resonator... whouldnt it have been like 3.5" or something? I mean the sub 3" is so restrictive, isnt it?

All the y-pipes I've seen seem to neck down to 2 3/4". My Kooks does. Hooker does. Others do too. I guess it's so they can mate to a stock catback. They're not that restrictive. Better than the stock y-pipe, but not as good as true duals.
