Default 98 WS6 almost overheating

Last couple of days car has been acting weird before it used to be just run just above 180 on the freeway and every once and awhile it would be 210 in traffic with the A/C on. Now it's a minimum of 210 and almost the next mark with the A/C on. The heater works but it really doesn't cool the car off. It cooled off later today and there was a rain storm. No change in the temp.
Coolant level is always full.

When I arrived at home and shut the car off the fan stayed on for awhile. It has never done that. What do you guys think? Thermostat?

are you going by the stock idiot gauge(I know 98s are more exact, but not perfect)? my car generally in traffic...will get up to 229-230(by a scanner), whcih i've asked if it is to high and nobody has every told me it is. these cars are meant to run hot. have you ever changed the coolant and t stat?

I've had a 98 Z28 before and just before the waterpump went out it started doing the same thing. The differance was that it was leaking the Ws6 is bone dry.

The car used to run at 180 when on the freeway now it's never really under the 210 mark and when I ran a scanner 210 on the gauge was like 228 on the scanner

Swap out your thermostat and get an Autometer temp guage.
